They have worked with patients and families who have felt unprepared and overwhelmed when dealing with a serious illness. They will share the 7 keys that allow us to take charge and feel prepared through the illness trajectory. A free copy of their book, Hope for the Best – Plan for the Rest, will be available to registered participants.

About the Presenters:
Dr. Seow is the Canada Research Chair in Palliative Care and Health System Innovation and a Professor in the Department of Oncology at McMaster University.
Dr. Winemaker is an Associate Clinical Professor, Department of Family Medicine in the Division of Palliative Care at McMaster University. She teaches palliative care to health care professionals.
They are also the authors of the book, Hope for Best – Plan for the Rest, and cohost the podcast The Waiting Room Revolution.
Participants will have a better understanding of:
• The importance of seeking out resources and information early in the illness journey
• How a palliative approach to care can help improve quality of life for patients and families right from diagnosis through to grief and bereavement
• The importance of family, caregivers, friends, neighbours, etc. in a patient’s illness journey.
