Deaf Culture and American Sign Language

Communication is an important part of providing quality of care at end of life and language barriers can impact this care.  This presentation provides an introduction to Deaf culture and American Sign Language (ASL).  By understanding Deaf culture and appropriate communication practices, healthcare providers can deliver more compassionate, equitable, and person-centered care for Deaf and hard of hearing/deafened individuals and their families.

Format: Webinar – Participants can attend via Microsoft Teams either individually or as part of a viewing group hosted at the Erie Shores Campus or the Windsor Campus.  The Microsoft Teams link will be provided upon registration.

Time:  Doors open and a light meal is provided at 5:00 pm for the on-site viewing groups

  • Erie Shores Campus (197 Talbot St. W., Leamington) – Welcome Centre
  • Windsor Campus (6038 Empress St., Windsor) – Administrative Building #600
