DESCRIPTION:Resources and Supports for National Grief Awareness Day 2023\n\nLosing Someone We Love \nThe loss of someone we love is one of life’s most stressful events. Grief is a natural and normal response to the death of someone important in our lives. Even when it is expected\, it can still be painful and confusing. Grief support is an important part of the healing process after a death. It takes time to heal\, and everyone’s experience is different. Grief is part of being human\, but that doesn’t mean we have to go through the journey alone. \nSometimes we need help to cope with the changes in our lives after a loss. The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County offers a range of support\, including grief and bereavement services\, to those who have been in our care. These services and programs provide family and friends the support they need as they take their first steps in this journey. \n  \nHow Hospice Can Help \nOur dedicated pool of staff and volunteers\, working one-on-one either by phone\, in person\, or online\, can help you acknowledge the death\, assist you in dealing with the more immediate tasks of living while grieving\, share your pain\, sadness\, tears\, memories\, and stories\, and provide insight into your experiences. \nSupport is available in the following ways: \n\nShort term individual counselling\nBereavement Support Groups\nOne-on-one support calls\nMemorial Services\nWellness Programs\nEnergy Work\n\nVisit www.thehospice.ca/events/ for our Wellness Programs Calendar. At the end of the support period\, our Hospice staff can also assist you with information and referrals to the formal community counseling or bereavement groups. \n  \nHospice Social Workers \nOur registered Social Workers provide compassionate\, non-judgmental support for those experiencing loss. They provide counselling to help manage the stress connected to end-of-life grief and loss. In addition\, they can provide advocacy and connect individuals to community resources and supports. \n  \nHospice Spiritual Care Coordinators \nBereavement support is offered by our Spiritual Care Coordinators to help in exploring and facilitating your spiritual journey. Coordinators respond to concerns about grief and loss and provide a non-judgmental presence where emotions and questions can be openly expressed.
