 Living with a life-altering or chronic diagnosis is challenging The Welcome Centre provides patients and their caregivers with activities that encourage, educate and provide respite from the many pressures that surround living with a diagnosis. Our Welcome Centre Programs

The following are descriptions of the programs available at the Wellness Centre. There are a wide variety of programs that will enhance your physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. The programs will also help to support, educate and empower you when dealing with a life-altering diagnosis.

Reiki & Restorative Yoga Series:  Monday mornings at 10am  with Leigh Ann

Restorative Yoga is a category of poses where you position your body in supported postures and then relax into them. Perfect for those who are exhausted, tired, have trouble sleeping or difficulty letting go. Restorative yoga is suitable for all ages and skill levels.

Reiki is a gentle hands on energy treatment, it will be incorporated into the classes in order to help you relax and release deeply.     Pre-registration is required as class size is limited to 10 participants.

 

Card Making: Monday May 6 & 20th, 1:30-3:00 pm  with  Charlotte  Learn to make all occasion greeting cards using different techniques.  This is an enjoyable way to use your creativity, share time with friends and come away with a card or two that you will be able to keep or send .  These will be uncomplicated cards, so you need not worry about not having artistic talents.  Everyone is welcome!. All supplies provided, pre-registration is required.

 

GRIEF (the 1st Year of Loss): Every Monday 11:00am-12:30pm with Susan  This is a 10 week class that will involve grief education about ten essential touchstones for hope and healing after the death of a loved one as well as sharing our stories and offering each other support.  Persons must be in first 9 months of their loss of a loved one to participate in this group.

 

HEARTBEAT DRUMMING: Every Tuesday 1-2pm with Janice “Drumming is fun, therapeutic in its repetition, and a fantastic way to challenge and exercise our brains (even better than crosswords!) as we get older. It is also a very effective way to “connect” with     others...finding our common heartbeat.  Drums are supplied if needed, limited to 10 people.  Pre-registration is required.

 

Yoga NidraEvery Wednesday 11-12pm, with Devanni  Enhance your health through breathing and postures that nurtures your physical and emotional healing. Open to everyone, no physical limitations. Limited to 10 participants. Pre-registration is required.

 

Chair Yoga:  Wednesdays 2:30-3pm, with Melanie

Yoga is the union between body and mind can bring a sense of calm, relaxation and a sense of peace to your life. The comfort and support of a seated practice  makes yoga accessible to everyone. Limited to 10 participants. Pre-registration is required.

 

KnittingEvery Thursday 1:30-3pm  Join our knitting group to learn the latest techniques and make new friends.

 

LONELINESS- Impacts on Health Thursday, May 16– 1:00 – 3:00p, with Diane Did you know that 1 in 5 individuals report feeling   lonely? Loneliness is a complex response to many different types of life circumstances.  Learn how to live your best life possible by considering how you can do more of what you like to, be connected and achieve your life wishes. Be prepared to get the help you need when you need it.

 

PAINT “N” PALOZZA: MAY 23rd 2-4PM:, with  Arlene Murphy Learn how to make beautiful pictures for your home or as a gift reducing stress and creating something special. All supplies are provided limited to 10 participants. Pre-registration is required.

 

Butterfly Gardening Fest: Thursday May 30, 10:30am-12pm with Christine, Coordinator Complementary Care

Be a part of the growing movement to support butterfly pathways. Learn how to Create Your Own Butterfly Garden! Whether you have a balcony, a hanging basket or a yard, if you plant it, they will come. Door prizes, loads of tips and a plant for every participant to take home. Pre-registration is required.
